Praying for Peace

Peace Prayers from Interfaith Services
A Prayer for Peace In The New Millennuim
Infinite Spirit,
I call upon Your Power, Wisdom and Compassion ...
The Power that calls the universe into form --
The Wisdom that brings forth order and balance --
The Compassion that establishes healing, justice
and beloved community.
I believe, as the Master Jesus taught, that with you, dear God, all
things are possible.
I believe in the Power of Prayer.
Dear God, we know so many people are in great distress today.
May I become part of the solution through the Power of this Prayer.
May every world leader's mind be filled with Your greatest wisdom.
May every world leader's heart be filled with Your transforming
compassion.
May every world leader be led in seeking peaceful solutions to all
conflict.
May every world leader seize this moment as a turning point in
building a peaceful, compassionate and cooperative new future.
May every person affected by conflict feel Your protection, comfort
and support, dear God.
May the family of humanity now be filled, as never before, with Your
Power, Wisdom and Compassion, that we might cooperate in building
beloved community on planet Earth.
Dear God, we know that the world heals as individuals heal.
I pray to do my part in proactive peacemaking.
Make me aware of my own prejudices.
Shine a light upon any forms of violence, in thought, word or deed, in
which I am engaging.
Grow in me the seeds of nonviolence.
Teach me in the ways of peacemaking.
Show me daily how I can do my part to fulfill humanity's dream of
peace on Earth.
Through the growing practice of nonviolence, I stand firm in my belief
that it is truly possible for all people to live in freedom, justice,
and plenty.
I pray for Divine Direction.
I commit to do my part.
I know the future of our planet and all people depend upon this great
mission.
Amen.

Prayer of Peace
Time has come, the time is now
When love of God may unite us all
Love of life is the universal call
We must recognize we are from the same clay,
Live through the same breath, same God we obey
Where there is religious ego, let compassion prevail
Where there is diversity, let unity excel
Where there is bigotry,
Let there be dignity
Where there is oppression
Set people free
May all men of religion unite, strands intertwined
Like a rope with which we can hang
The big chandelier of Light -
And remove blinders of prejudice from everyone's sight.
Where there is fanaticism,
Let there be hope
Where there is injustice,
Let there be faith
Where there is politics
Let there be peace
Oh, Divine Master
Teach me to serve and not want to be served
Let the living truth live undisturbed
Still the drums of war which cloud our perception
Let us hear your Word and follow your direction
Fill our hearts with love for your creation
Dissolve our fears, bring peace to every nation.
The Siri Singh Sahib
A Prayer For Grace
We who are alive for a brief time
turn our hearts to the Mystery of the Eternal
Receive our tiny gratitude for this abundant banquet
of sights and tastes and sounds of life
Look with tender mercy on the harsh deceptions
that we visit on ourselves and our neighbors
Push us into the realm of awe in the face of true worth
and push us into servanthood when suffering comes knocking
Embrace the person who prays these incomplete words
with the grace of your perfection and lead me into oneness with You.
Bishop William Swing
PRAYER
O God, all holy one, you are our Mother and our Father and we are your
children. Open our eyes and our hearts so that we may be able to
discern your work in the universe. And be able to see Your features in
every one of Your children. May we learn that there are many paths but
all lead to You. Help us to know that you have created us for family,
for togetherness, for peace, for gentleness, for compassion, for
caring, for sharing.
May we know that You want us to care for one another as those who know
that they are sisters and brothers, members of the same family, Your
family, the human family. Help us to beat our swords into plowshares
and our spears into pruning hooks, so that we may be able to live in
peace and harmony, wiping away the tears from the eyes of those who
are less fortunate than ourselves. And may we know war no more, as we
strive to be what You want us to be: Your children. Amen.

Prayer For The Interfaith Call
O God, in whom we live and move and have our being, open our hearts to
the people of Tibet. May we see ourselves reflected in them so that
the
awareness of our connection is deepened. Grant us the wisdom of Holy
Understanding, the courage of consecrated compassion and a deepening
commitment to the sacred calling of non-violence. Open the eyes of our
hearts so that we may see that their loss is our loss, their pain our
pain,
that their lives and ours are woven into single fabric.
Grant us a vision of this Divine Wholeness, that we, one and all,
might become tenacious and true instruments of your peace.
Blessed be
Rev. Robert V. Thompson
Prayer For The People Of Tibet
May the Spirit of Compassion help us feel the suffering of the people
of Tibet.
May the Spirit of Love melt the cold hearts of those who trample on
human rights.
May the Spirit of Wisdom inspire us to
treasure the mystical insights of Tibetan religious teachers.
May the Spirit of Beauty move us to preserve the unique splendor of
the land of Tibet.
May the Spirit of Patience and Endurance strengthen those who are
oppressed
and those who are exiled from their homes.
May the Spirit of Courage embolden those who speak for those who have
no voice.
May the Spirit of Non-Violence bring peace, justice and healing
to all the peoples of China and Tibet.
May the Spirit of Unity help us to recognize the people of every
nation and religion
as our brothers and sisters.
Rev. Marcus Braybrooke
